Start with the business and the search goal

An SEO case study is easier to assess when you know what the business needed. A local repair company and an online appliance store can both receive organic traffic, but the pages, search intent and next steps are different.

Look for a clear explanation of the market, the services or products involved, and the pages the campaign worked on. The numbers need that context. A report should help you understand what changed and what the available evidence can support.

Keep reporting windows separate

A 28-day Search Console report and a six-month report describe different periods. Putting their click totals side by side does not establish which campaign grew faster or performed better.

In my case studies, I identify the reporting window supplied with each campaign. Where the original portfolio does not specify a full duration, I say so. I also keep separate reports separate instead of combining them into one headline total.

When reviewing results, ask:

If the before-period is not supplied, a screenshot can show performance during the captured period. It cannot establish a percentage improvement on its own.

Understand what each metric measures

Search impressions describe appearances in search results. Clicks describe visits from those results. Neither is automatically a confirmed inquiry or sale.

The same distinction matters when reading local business data. A Business Profile interaction is a recorded activity, and its meaning depends on the action and reporting view. It should not be relabelled as revenue or a qualified lead without supporting evidence.

My Al Saqir Plants case study presents the supplied Search Console figures and Business Profile interactions separately. Their reporting context is different, so a combined result would make the story harder to assess.

Treat rankings and AI answers as observations

A captured search result records what appeared for a particular query at that time. It does not establish that the same result appears in every location or on every device.

AI screenshots also need the original prompt and answer context. A first-listed provider in an AI Overview is a different observation from an organic position or a local pack placement. Keeping those labels precise makes the result more useful.

The Autopair Warranty case study separates the non-branded AI examples from the branded Google search capture. That allows you to inspect each piece of evidence on its own terms.

Connect the work with the evidence

A useful case study explains the implementation as well as the outcome. You should be able to identify the page targeting, content, technical or local work involved and understand why those tasks were relevant to the business.

That does not mean one change can be credited with every result. Several improvements may happen during a campaign, alongside changes elsewhere in search. I describe the documented work and the supplied results without presenting a single screenshot as proof of a complete causal story.

For a local campaign, that work might connect service-page intent with consistent business information. For an online store, it might connect category structure, product relevance and technical search access. The Local SEO and e-commerce SEO service pages explain how I approach those needs.

Use the case study to start a practical conversation

The most useful next question is how the approach relates to your own website. Your market, existing pages, available data and implementation capacity will shape the work.

If you want to discuss that starting point, share your website and priorities. I can help turn the available evidence into a focused plan.
